How the FTC Will Be Changing Your Feeds.

Social media is a total grey area when it comes to advertising. While the advertised posts integrated into your timelines by Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are clearly marked (as required by laws in most jurisdictions), the celebrities and influencers you follow haven’t needed to clearly denote paid posts and advertisements until recently.

With users like Scott Disick nearing 18 million followers, his Instagram page proves a greater advertising opportunity than a majority of magazines and TV programs. And taking advantage of that opportunity will cost companies like weight loss shake manufacturers, Bootea, somewhere in the ballpark of $25,000 per post (which will be deleted after a few weeks).

But how have the FTC been regulating the online advertisements of celebrities like Disick? Well, they haven’t been.

Victoria Beckham is no stranger to makeup lines. Most recently, the Spice Girls alum worked with London-based nail bar and polish producer, NailsInc, in a colour collaboration everyone was dying to get their hands on (and dying to get on their hands). Since the success of Judo Red and Bamboo White, we’re sure Beckham has been approached by countless cosmetics companies to put her stylish twist on their brands.  And considering the NailsInc Nail Duo by Victoria Beckham was limited edition and impossible to find during its debut week (let alone a year later), the world needed her to accept one of those offers.

How To Get Lady Gaga’s Demure ‘Do.

Lady Gaga was nominated for her first Oscar at Sunday’s 88th Annual Academy Awards. The performer, most notable for her out of the box sense of style and her pop anthems, revealed an entirely different side of herself during the ceremony. Nominated Best Original Song for her pop ballad ‘Til it Happens to You, which she also performed to a standing ovation, her music and sense of style were both more “Lady” than “Gaga”.
