State of Emergency in Fort McMurray.

The province of Alberta is being ravaged by another devastating wildfire leaving Tyler Warman, the Mayor of Slave Lake, with an “eerie sense of déjà vu.”

The out of control fires in Fort McMurray are horrifyingly reminiscent of the horrible blazes that destroyed Slave Lake and the surrounding areas five years ago. The 2011 fires were the second costliest disaster in Canada, having left more than 425 properties levelled or damaged. Considering the scope of the wildfires now burning in the north eastern corner of the province, it looks like that may not be a title Slave Lake will be holding for much longer.

Redesigning Masculinity.

Displaying an interesting use of asymmetry, Cherry Luk’s latest collection TRANS/form was conceptualized by draping menswear pieces over a female form mannequin, giving undeniably masculine garbs a feminine edge. The collection is hard to describe, especially when trying to use indicators of “masculine” and “feminine”, but considering Luk’s encouragement to challenge the status quo, our confusion is probably intentional.

Victoria Beckham Esteé Lauder Collaboration.

Victoria Beckham is no stranger to makeup lines. Most recently, the Spice Girls alum worked with London-based nail bar and polish producer, NailsInc, in a colour collaboration everyone was dying to get their hands on (and dying to get on their hands). Since the success of Judo Red and Bamboo White, we’re sure Beckham has been approached by countless cosmetics companies to put her stylish twist on their brands.  And considering the NailsInc Nail Duo by Victoria Beckham was limited edition and impossible to find during its debut week (let alone a year later), the world needed her to accept one of those offers.
